Criminal History Check/Certificate of Good Conduct
If you have lived in Australia you may be asked to obtain a Police Check/ Criminal History Check/"Certificate of Good Conduct". The Australian High Commission cannot issue this. You should contact the Australian Federal Police for further information and application forms.
You should check with the authority requesting the police check whether a fingerprint check or name check is required.
Fingerprint Check
If you require fingerpints for your police check your local police authority can assist with taking of fingerprints, for which a fee is payable.
If you live in the London Metropolitan Police area fingerprints can only be taken at New Scotland Yard, Broadway, London SW1 (opposite St James Park tube station). You must contact New Scotland Yard on 020 7230 2099 between the hours of 8.30 –12.30 and 13.30 – 14.30 to arrange an appointment. A fee is payable for this, credit cards are not accepted. You will need to produce documentation as follows:
• a valid passport or
• a properly certified copy of the passport page showing details and photograph or
• an original driving licence bearing a photograph and
• information as to why the fingerprints/police check are required, e.g. applying for a visa; employment purposes
